  • What was tonights Third Watch about? I missed it...

Anyone let me in on what tonights Third Watch was about? I always seem to get called away while it is running and catch the last couple seconds of it. I saw everyone jumping on the tailboards of the responding apparatus. I know it is about WTC 9/11, but can anyone expound on it for me please?
    Thank you,

An excellant show. Showed a typical work day
for all the shows stars. The firefighters were on duty on the 9-10 night shift and were answsing alot of false alarms. Roscoe got lucky and ended up in a strange ladies apartment. The older cop and his young Black partner were (sorry I don't know their names)in Atlantic City, so he could get married to his Russian sweetheart. The lady cop and her husband were going to the doctor's office about her tests that (I think) showed she could have cancer. But the last 5 minutes were WOW. I taped it and watched it about 5 times.
The firefighters were going off duty (and talking about what they were going to do on sure a beautiful day) and the on duty firefighters heard the box and started to the rig...then the off duty crew came running down the stairs to get their rig clothes and off the squad goings with firefighters hanging all over the rig.
The lady cop holds out her badge to all the cop cars that are screaming by and one slams on the brakes so she can get in and tells he husband to get the kids out of school and go home.
The lady paramedic that is off for medical reasons is scene running back to work.
Roscoe hears the jet go over head and looks out the window.
The cops in Alantic City see the WTC on TV and start to run back to their rooms.
It was a whole different way of thinking about the disaster. Seeing the Heros as they were running into the danger....quite the humbling feeling.

My families prays and best wishes are all with the fallen heros in NYC, The Pentagon, and the Pennsylvania crash site.

Thanks for the recap... I was stuck on a 3 alarm grass fire for 3.5 hours during that time, then when cleared from that got sent on a haz-mat (ammonia release).

Sure wish I could have seen it.

AWESOME SHOW!!! WISH THEY WOULD GO INTO MORE DETAIL AND PRODUCE MORE EPISODES ABOUT IT..... Did anyone else notice how both the new rig and the reserve rig left... Just think of all of the rigs like that, responding without the brass knowing... I hope so much that they will make the three part series on video so I can buy it... THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ALL TIME EPISODE...HOORAH FOR NBC!!!

Very tactfully done. They showed what was happening without actually showing the planes or the actual buildings. I was trying hard to swallow the lump in my throat at the last scene with the engine pulling away loaded to the hilt with personell, and the female FF(forgot her name) turned around and looked back.
                HELL YEAH!!!
The comments made by me are just that. Not of the Fire dept or Ambulance squad I am on.

Just an off the top of my head question...Did anyone notice that one of the Engines was an E-One? (I work for a TV station so I tend to notice little things like these..almost to a fault) I thought I saw it as some of the FF's were running in front of the trucks. Does FDNY run E-Ones or just Seagraves?

Yes - the engine in the show is an E-One. For a while they had a demonstrator pumper that had been built by E-One, and dressed out in FDNY colors - but I believe that it had a raised roof-- I think a lot of people called/wrote in about it.

They are driving an E-One, but this one no longer has the raised roof.

I think that the FDNY was charging NBC (and rightfully so...) for the use of apparatus for the show. I guess that NBC figured it would be more worthwile to purchase a few trucks, than to shell out that cash time and again.

LOL dly! Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't "Roscoe" the sheriff in the Dukes of Hazzard? He drove around with Boss Hogg and his dog Flash. I believe Bosco is the character on Third Watch

I agree with you though. It was a great show. I got a chill down my spine when I saw all of the firefighters running to the engine at the end. I thought that NBC did as good a job as TV can do to show what it might have been like. I didn't tape it unfortunately but I will next week!!

show was awesome..wish it didnt have to end when it did... I hate when shows leave you in suspense like that....even though we all know what happens.. But yea that ending gave me the chills thinking how many trucks pulled out like that and came back only half of what they left with.....

                            I taped it my-self...{Worked on Monday Night} The ending was pretty intense...With an FDNY Change of Shift at that time I'm sure it was just as 'Third Watch' showed it. On-Duty and Off Duty Members scrambling through-out the Houses and Jumping on a piece where ever they would fit {Inside or Out}

I'm ready for for 10/29's Episode...It should start off with the first arriving companies at WTC
