  • Standpipe Hose

I am the aide to the Fire Chief in an urban fire department. We are currently looking to upgrade our standpipe packs with new hose. We are looking for a lightweight 2" hose.

I need some advice. We have looked thoroughly at the Niedner XL-800. Can anyone give me some feedback on this type?

Can anyone recommend a different type that they have found works well for their department.

Any and all responses are welcomed.
    Thank you.

Fire Engineering has had some good articles about Standpipe bags or Highrise packs over the last couple of years. Maybe someone in your department has some magazines laying around or stored that you could research through. Also, you may want to call the City of Denver,FD. They have a very well organized Standpipe set-up that I thought was well thought out. I'm not sure how to spell his last name, but he is Denvers highrise point man. His name is Dave
McGrail. He lectures on the subject and is very knowledgeable and is open to any questions.

      Good Luck.
