WEB PAGES?

OUR DEPARTMENT IS LOOKING INTO BUILDING OUR OWN WEBSITE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON WHERE TO GO AND START A COOL WEB PAGE? WE WOULD PREFER ONE THAT DOESN'T COST ANYTHING. [email protected]

In all actuallity, I'm not sure that it's possible to create a cool web site for free. In order to buy a domain name.. the internet address for your web site.. it will cost money. Then there is software costs and other such expenses. Whether you are doing the work yourself or paying someone to do it for your department there's no way around paying for it. If you are going to do it yourself.. at very least and cheapest way you'll need at the following:
-PC
-Digital Camera and/or scanner
-Picture editing software
-Web design software (Microsoft Frontpage is a good one)

Then there's the cost of the web host. Anyway you look at it it's not free.. but it can be less expensive.
Our fire department has an internet website at http://www.munsonfire.org
It's not anything special but we use Microsoft Frontpage to do it and it has been featured on Firehouse.com's featured web sites. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

Depending on what kind of web site your going to build!!! I know of places like *fortunecity, tripod, geocities* that having a domain name isnt required nor does it cost you to build a web site! I have numerous ones up, the Frontpage 98 is a very,very good tool to build with. There are also numerous places to gather pictures (give credit where due), a frien dof mine sent me tons of information on FF because I am setting up a web site dealing with FF!
