  • A Poem

    There was an explosion,
    I ran to you,
    I drove to you,
    I heard your cries,
    and I tried.

I ran in as you ran out,
    Fire, smoke, heat,
    Panic, fear, anger, grief,
    I heard your cries,
    and I tried.

    A second crash,
    Why? How?
Confusion. What the Hell is going on?
    I heard your cries,
    and I tried.

    Still, I stayed,
    One building down,
    My friends are gone,
    I heard your cries,
    and I tried.

The world fell down all around me,
    good-bye wife,
    good-bye son, good-bye loved ones,
    I heard your cries,
    and I died.

Amen Brother. Even though I am in a considerably smaller paid department in SE North Carolina, we are all family through and through. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your families. Not just to the FDNY, but also the rest of you througout the world. This is a sad week, and will be forever. Let us not forget, that we chose this profession so that we could make a difference. Even though they lost their lives, they STILL MADE THAT DIFFERENCE!

God Bless America and God Bless all Firefighters!
