I don't know about the rest of you, but for me things will never be the same after the devastating loss of lives that occurred last week. I am finding myself being more open to others, thinking more, praying more, and hugging and extending love to those that I care for on a more regular basis. Life is so short...but now I realize just how short it can be. I am not as willing to allow trivial things to bother me as I used to....instead I stop and think about the grand scheme of things and realize that it won't make a difference to just walk away from it and let it be. Life will eventually move on, but for me it will be totally different. Hate has no place in my life anymore..I am being kinder to others, and I am taking the time to stop and help others in a more deliberate way. In the past I did my job as a Fire Fighter/EMT like a robot on occassions...just going through the motions. Now we all need to do our jobs because we love to, and because our fellow humans need us to do that job, we are their strength in this time of loss. We lost a lot of heroes and a lot of wonderful people this past week and I for one won't allow that day to be forgotten. Whenever I feel sorry for myself, get angry, etc. I will stop and think about that day and how lucky I am to be alive and to be surrounded by great people, and that I am still able to do the things I love to do. I am stopping now to thank all of you on this forum who have been kind to me in the past, who have challenged me to grow mentally and emotionally, and to say that I wish to know more of you and to gain friendships through this tragedy. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!
