  • will Backdraft 2 ever be made ?

hey guys. Backdraft is my FAVORITE movie(I got 2 copies of the movie, the movie poster and Chicago F.D shirt) do you guys think Backdraft 2 will ever be made. I sure hope so. I know it's been awhile since Backdraft been made but maybe the This deal in New York would inspire a script writer to write something about firefighters. just put in your input
    thanks

Why don't you write it, direct it, produce it and act in it?

I'm sure there will be plenty of movies inspired by all of this. To write a movie with a happy ending, you'd have to center the story around the people who made it out alive. Otherwise, it couldn't qualify for anything but a horror movie.

It's too bad they had to bump the release of "Collateral Damage". I was looking forward to seeing it, but now it would hit too close to home for too many people, including me.

I sure hope not. Backdraft was not the best firefighting movie made. They wasn't alot of truth in it. The way hollywood is now i think they could produce a real good movie about the fire service.

yeah if i wrote the script, directed and acted in it that movie would STINK. sure i'd know more about firefighting than most directors but far as camera angles and the tone of voice to get point across and stuff like that i'd do TERRIBLE AT. I think it would be worst than Dude where's my car(that was like the worst movie i ever saw)

This topic has been discussed on this forum and also in the Junior/Explorer forum. I think the spark is gone from BACKDRAFT and that Chicago and FDNY are so different that the two would never blend well. It has been over 10 years since the release of BACKDRAFT, so many of the actors from the original would not be likely to fit in well in the sequal, and a sequal with replacement characters are always cheesy.

I would have enjoyed seeing a sequal with more attention to correct fire behavior and firefighting tactics. I envisioned Ronald being released with Brian McCafrey hot on his heals with a rash of arsons happening at the same time. In the end, the arsonist would be found to be some obscure character from the original.

I enjoyed backdraft even though it was not realistic....

But...i dont think i want to see a movie that ends with over 300 firefighters being killed. Just is not too appealing to me.

Why not a movie celebrating the very courageous work of Firefighters and EMS all over the world. Dedicated to those lost with all proceeds going to help their families.

We don't need fiction or sorrow at a time like this.

I might only be a stretcher monkey from the UK but I feel strongly about this.

                      Backdraft was a horrible movie.

Had a comment about another movie we'll never see because of the WTC, but I figured someone would take it the wrong way so I edited it out.

i know the firefighting in Backdraft was very unreal(examples he hardly ever used his SCBA in the fire, you notice in that one fire they called for for Firefighters and no one responded. with as large as Chicago F.D. is if no one responded either there was 300 fires or there was some lazy firefighters.)
now i now this was hollywood but overall i liked the movie.

And how long did you say you've been in the fire service?
