Union Stewards

Do you guys and gals out there who belong to the IAFF have Union Stewards in your Local? If so how do they function? What are their responsibilities and duties? Are they elected or appointed? I appreciate all your responses.

yes we currently use trustees which are about the same as what you had mentioned. your constitution and bylaws dictate what the roles they play will be. generally they are the eyes and ears of the local fielding questions and complaints from the body of the membership. they also assist with the grievence procedure when asked. a trustee plays a critical role since they are the first line of contact that a member has. they also assist all positions when needed. hope i helped a little.
