  • On Duty!

Yesterday, in memory and honor of our fallen FDNY brothers and sisters, I wore my dress uniform to work. My boss asked me if I was on duty. I told him that whether or not we're paid or volunteer, we're always on duty. Many of the firefighters caught in the fallen rubble were just getting off their shift, but responded to the scene ready to do whatever possible.
If I may, I'd like to share with any brother who reads this to read Isaiah 43: 1-3. It's what I live by and sure many who entered the WTC, lived by it as well. On any given day, our duty may require the ultimate sacrifice, so being prepared to meet our Creator requires faith that He is able to provide for and comfort those we leave behind. My deepest sympathy to the families of our fallen comrades and I pray for strength for those digging desperately through the debris. God Bless the FDNY!
    See you on the big one!<br />Billy Reiter 1st Lieutenant/Chaplain available 24 7
