AMERICAN FLAGS ON MEDICS

At work last shift we wanted to put a big u.s. flag on our ambulance (3x5) and we ran into some trouble. Eventually we rigged it by zip tying it to the hinges on one of the equipment doors, but I'm not really happy with it like that. My question is are other departments putting flags on their apparatus? and also how are you affixing them to the ambulances. We already have flags on the Quint that look great.

Most ambulances I've seen, including the ones I'be been working out of, are putting the small flags halfway up the radio antanna.

We put one on the front driver side compartment. Ran zip ties through the hinges. It is out of the drivers view while driving but floats into the cab when we come to a stop. It isnt a big problem, but we havent had to slam on the breaks and make a hard left turn (which would be difficult because it obstructs the mirror.) Well see if it is still there in the morning when we go back to work. We have gotten alot of thumbs up and salutes from citizens and it makes me feel all warm and mushy to look out the window and see it whippin in the wind.

We have put the small versions of OLD GLORY on all of our ambulances antenaes and the engines. I'm looking into finding some decals that can be put on more permanently. We too have been getting alot of thumbs up, waves, and honks. It kind of a shame that it takes something like this to bring us all together. But God Bless everyone for the jobs their doing. I love being a firefighter.
