what i wanted to know is what are your sog's about fighting fire in a situation like that .

We've been put on standby a few blocks away from hostage situations, right around the point when the cops are getting ready to fire the tear gas. So, if they get the guy out and the house goes up, we're ready, or if the house goes up and they don't get the guy out, we can protect exposures from a safe distance. It's not even an option to initiate an interior attack if the suspect is not in custody and the house goes up.

Exactly correct. I think LA Co did a good job based on the situation.
We have similar procedures. If the PD tells us to stage, we stage until the all clear is given. You need a good relationship with the cops to keep things running smooth. A good unified command is also very important.
