  • Hand tools (for a belt)

Thinking about buying a belted hand tool for myself. I've seen a brochure for a small axe that comes with a sheath and belt called the Truckman I think. (There's also just a belt called the Truckman too, I think).

Just looking for any comments or suggestions about something like this. I think the one I saw was about $150.(U.S.) or so; I'm Canadian so it will be kind of expensive---but I think it could come in real handy some day, maybe even help out in a harry situation.

I just bought an axe from Bass Pro Shop. If you dont have one near you look online. It is the same size as the truckman, made by Gerber and has a sheath. The sheath is very high quality and has a belt loop and a place to hook a D-Ring to it. Its 40 bucks. Ill go look for it on the web and post the link so you can look at it. Hold on a sec. OK Im back (like you had to wait...im such a dork) go to http://www.basspro-shops.com and enter ax in the search window. Or the product number 38-879-672-11. It looks like a very good tool, I cant wait to bash something with it!

I have the truckman battle axe it is a very useful tool, small, light weight and only about $100 for the axe and the scabbard it only weighs about 2-3 lbs. I tell you what the metal cutting end will cut a standered metal roll up door like butter if you keep it sharp.

ps.. it comes with a yellow fiberglass handle and the head is polshed steel so it looks good on the wall also.

I forgot to say first of all get a good flash light.I have an old SHO-ME brand it is about 10 years old still works like the day I got it, shure dose not look the same but that dosen't matter as long as it works. one thing to remember is always carry it with you.

ps... when attached to the belt it makes one hell of an alternative means of venting windows

Gerber makes three sizes of "camp axes". I believe this is what Waterboy620 has. I have the big one for camping and I love it. It is light, durable and well balanced. I would sugest the medium sized one.

I would also recomend a small 24" haligan bar. It is heaver, but will provide more escape options.
