  • Station Logo Policy?

I am looking for any departments that may have a policy that covers station logos? The chief of my department has agreed to let us have our station logos on our rigs and some uniform clothing, the only request he has is that we provide a guideline covering the topic. I am looking for examples if anyone has one. Thanks in advance

We don't have a policy, but some thoughts:

Must be family friendly. I've seen some pretty raunchy stuff, albeit mostly on T-shirts.

This one could be tough, and it's getting tougher - Must not be offensive. Example - in NY, schools can no longer use Native American mascots in any way, shape or form.

KISS: I've seen some pretty busy patches and logos.

Be careful of trademarked or copyrighted material - cartoon characters come to mind.

Keep the future in mind. What seems obvious now may be irrelevant years from now.

Get buy-in from relevant groups - ie, if you're going with an Italian-American theme, seek out local organzations. A college I know of got the approval of a local Native American tribe to continue using their name as the mascot.

    Good Luck!
