scotts are simply the best. they are simple and heavy duty. also, they are the only scba that actually looks good. if you ask me msa's look dumb, especially the facepieces, and you gotta look good on the fireground...
Anything is batter than a "surprise-Air" oops I mean Surviveair. I have 8 in the airpack room right now that are out of service and I can't find out why. We are going to buy all new Scotts and take out surviveair packs to the lake and dump em.

We use the old Scott II's (some over 15yrs old). In the near future we're going to be getting the newer Air-Pak 50's. Tried one and fell in love Can't wait till they get here!!!
Stay Safe and be careful out there!!!!

I use both the scott, and the msa MMR, and I do like the SCOTT better. The mask fits my face better and I like the larger hole in the facepiece of the SCOTT, and I prefer the vibra alarm.
With the MSA you don't exhale back into the regulator so it is probably more sanitary. and I like the pass device more. The SCOTT you have to move the entire unit, MSA it's just the gauge.
I love my scott air pack to death. They are so simple to use and they are really light. That is all we use in my county but the surrounding counties all have different types of air bottles. I would never trade in my scott pack for anything.
If you cant take the heat then stay out of my way.

OK, PaulJr93, here's my 2 cents,
Scotts are practically "firefighter" proof. They can take almost any and all abuse and still function. In general, a great system.
However, on a personal note, first - I have a long narrow face and have not found a Scott facemask that fits properly. Secondly, I wear dentures (uppers and lowers) and the damn "chin cup" always "pops" my lower plate within 5 minutes of packing out.
Outside of those two complaints, it's a good mask.
Regards to all and remember to be careful out there.

I will vote for scott...I have used them since the Scott II...then IIA and so on.....
