How does your department set up its Blitz Line?

Just wondering how different departments set up blitz lines. Setting one up on our new truck and was wondering. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Currently we have a 3" blitz line, 200 foot pre-connect, on the right section of the hose bed. The department I was on prior has theirs 200 foot 3" blitz line in the 4th (closest to the rear) cross-law above the pump panel. I prefer the cross lays since the engineer can more easily see what lines are deployed from the apparatus.

Well, most of our old timers don't believe in the "blitz line theory". Hell, until three years ago we didn't even have a 2 1/2 pre-connected on our trucks. Since then we have used them several times and glad we have. As far as blitz line we are working on that now but, 150' of 3" and a tft blitzfire seems to be the direction we are heading. Also a department not far from here has a 750 gpm deck gun nozzle hooked to a oiece of pipe w/ handles,they love it although I think it only has 100' of 3", good luck and happy hunting.

Our primary attack truck has 2 line "blitz" style lines.

250' 2.5" w/350 gpm nozzle preconnected
300' 3" preconnect w/350-1000gpm master stream kept in the compartment (Rear step isn't wide enough to mount it there).

Personally I think they're both one or two lengths too long. Unless your making a cut off on a large agricultural building in our area, you got an awful lot of hose to pull out and organize before you can charge.

We used to use a 2 1/2" 200' line for a blitz line and then carried a 200' 3" "leader" line or courtyard line with a gate wye on it.

Consider this. TFT Blitzfire nozzle. Portable 1 person Blitz device weighing approximately 28 pounds and capable of flows to 500GPM. Easily deployed...even on 3" line and safe as it has a shut-off saafety feature

We have a TFT H2-Blitz (50-350 gpm) connected to 400 ft. of 3" line coming off the back of the truck. This is not preconnected, just break and connect after you've pulled off enough hose.

Not real maneuverable, but sure can put out a lot of fire with it.

We are looking at the TFT Blitzfire on the next truck.

If I recall correctly, it is 200ft (maybe 400)...the rest I am sure of...2.5", smooth bore, left side of hose bed.

We have some options on our truck. We have a 200ft preconnected 2 1/2 in line loaded in a tri fold, and we have a 700ft skid load with a 50 1 1/2 pack on top of it and a gated wye. the gated wye is connected to a bell so that if we're getting our butts kicked, we can shut down the bell, disconnect the wye/handline, and now we've got a 2 1/2 blitz with us.

I am unfamilier with the term "Blitz Line". My assumption is, from reading the posts it is a preconect designed to put big water oon the fire fast. If so we have a 200' 2-1/2" preconect with a 125gpm - 500gpm fog nozzle. We can supliment this with 400' of addition 2-1/2" in our "working bed". We can turn our 200' pre-conect into a horizontal stand pipe by using our highrise pack, we do this quite a bit on wearhouses and the hated evil garden style apartments.

We use 200 foot of 2 1/2 coming off of the rear hose bed with a TFT Blitzfire. We operate it with the fog nozzle but can switch to the stack tips if needed. We have several warehouses in our jurisdiction and often have limited/delayed staffing levels on the initial alarm. This configuration alows us to have high flow quickly with limited staffing. It also works well as a quick exposure line. We have the nozzle mounted to the rear of the pumper for quick deployement.

Thanks for all your posts! They have helped me with some ideas. I like the concept of the BlitzFire system from TFT and may purchase one in the future. I just requested a loan of a new SaberJet to see how it works. Right now we have 250' of 2 1/2" off the hose bed preconnect with an old Elkhart Chief nozzle. I have always been told that solid bore was the best for blitz lines. Well I will let you all know how it works.

RIGHT NOW WE USE 200' 2.5" PRECONNECTED FROM THE HOSEBED WITH A TFT 50-350 FOG NOZZLE. WE ARE PLANNING TO BUY A VINDICATOR TO PUT ON THIS SAME LINE REPLACING THE TFT, OUR CHIEF WENT TO A HANDS ON DEMONSTRATION OF THE VINDICATOR AND IS SOLD ON IT. I AM WAITING TO GET MY HANDS ON ONE TO TRY AND MAKE MY OWN DETERMINATION ON IT. BUT CURRENTLY OUR SETUP ALLOWS 350 GPM AT 150 PSI ENGINE PRESSURE, WITH 175 LBS NOZZLE REACTION. THIS ENGINE PRESSURE ALLOWS A 150' 1.75" CROSSLAY TO FLOW 150 GPM, THE DECK GUN TO FLOW 1250 GPM, MAKING THE ENGINEERS JOB SIMPLER, THAT IS NOT HAVING A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT DISCHARGE PRESSURES TO MESS WITH.
