  • What Are Your Nicknames???

I have 2 actually. One I got when I was in my company's explorer post. This one was "Rainman", because everytime I came around it turned into a turrential downpour. The other one I just recently got from one of the commishiner's. This was is "Rock". Because I do some silly stuff sometime (like tripping into the jump seat... Once I tried to hop into the jump seat on the way to a call once but missed the step, so I tripped into the jump seat. It was very funny so see me and my 6 foot 3 inch body rolling around in the rear cab like a beached whale trying to get up. And i assume you all know how small the rear jump/scot seats are?), so they think i have rocks in my head sometime. Hey I guess its just the wages we pay for being a probie. What are some of you nicknames???? And how did you get them?

One is hctrouble...which is the username I use here. It stands for here comes trouble. They call me that because they say I can sit in a room full of people, not say one word, and someone end up in the middle of an argument between two other people, or get myself into trouble some other way. It never fails with me! haha They also call me that because I have no problem speaking my mind when needed. The other is Fig Newton...my last name is Newton...guess that explains that one huh. The last one is Kitty. Got it during Fire School training...someone made a sexual comment to me and I came back with an even better one so they said I was swift like a cat and called me kitty. I don't mind any of them..and answer to them all.
Never forget those who went before and sacrified to make us better and stronger as a fire service and a nation. 09-11-01 forever etched in time and our memories. God Speed Boys!

I'm a New Englander in KY. So I'm called, "Yankee."

We've got another guy on my shift who is the oldest "blue-shirt" on shift. So we call him, "Papaw." Kinda funny because He isn't even 40 yet.

one of my nicknames is Mumbles. I got this almost three years ago, when responding to a fire me and my father caused a car accident (but the brush truck that we were in didnt get hurt). We were pulling out of the shed the truck was in and this big truck stopped for us but this little Chevy went right up under the other truck. As we pulled out the truck stalled and we couldnt get the radio turned on so I ran about 500 yards in Work boots down to the station and went up stairs to the base radio and was out of breath by this time and I then proceeded to call the chief to tell him this but they couldnt totally understand me.

Well the obvious one would be the same as my login here. My last name is Hyland, so Hylander has been my nickname since I was like 10. And then during my tour in Korea I got the name Columbine, kinda morbid. I guess it was because I'm from Colorado and that place made me a little crazy. Not sure what to think about that one.

Way back when the football coach called me Mongo and it just stuck.

Had to add the fire_99 on the end for FH.Com because somebody stole my handle.

I have 3 nicknames. In Delta Fire department I'm "Missing In Action" because there was a brush/car fire in front of my house and when my Deputy Chief showed up he had my bunkers and everything but ... I wasn't home!
In Chena-Goldstream fire department I have two names: "HurryUpMichelle" because no matter how hard I try I'm always lagging behind everyone. All I hear is, "Hurry up Michelle!" and the other nickname is "DamnProbie!" which is acctually a joke between me and my Deputy Chiefs in both Delta and Chena. They'll say, "DamnProbie!" under their breath as I prance into yet another screw-up.
                          Probie Name: HurryUpMichelle!!

This is actually Althea's Mom (can't remember my password). My nickname is Rainwoman because I know more stuff about more stuff than most people, ranging from the top ten selling womens' fragrances in the U.S. to the many uses of carbon fiber, to what poet laureate was a conductor on the San Francisco Municipal Railway to production specs for HDPE pipe...
Althea is called The Cadet because she's the only one we have, and frequent references are made to Cadets being seen and not heard, so she takes it out on the forums.

At one time one of my co-workers daughters used to call me Garfield, as in the cat, because when I was up to no good I would get the S**t eating grin on my face. Thanks Heather
