  • Will You Help A Student With A Project Part II?

Let me say THANK YOU to everyone that helped our local student with her occupational studies project part one. Her class and her instructor were very impressed with your answers and enjoyed your humor so much that they have asked me to post a part 2! Please complete the follwing sentence:

    "Always ........."

    Thanks for all your help!

Always let the chief think it was his idea if you want to get something implemented.

Always respect the dangers of the job.

Always remember that just when you think you have seen someone do the dumbest thing possible, someone else will come along and top it.

    Always remember our fallen.

... remember learning is for a lifetime.

... Check your own pack. (Just like it's a parachute.. it's your ***, not the driver's)

... remember how lucky you are to go home at the end of a shift...

Always check the door for heat before you open it.

Always know what your standing on before you stand on it.

Always know where your suspenders are BEFORE you pull up your pants

Always...keep your head on a swivel and your eyes in two directions at once.

Always...resolve home problems before you leave for a shift, or at least call a truce. You never konw what may happen in 24 hours.

Always...remember those that went before us in the service to their fellow man.

Always make sure you take your car keys off the hook before locking the door behind you.

                      Always:

.....go to the bathroom every chance you get.

.....keep an eye on your partner's a** and your own.

.....take your house keys with you when you go on that 4am fire! (DOOH! :-D)

Always make sure the engine is all the way out the bay before you hit the DOWN button on the overhead door.

Always remember if its freezing out shorts and a T-shirt are not the best things to wear.
Always remember the Proabies of today may be the Firefighters of tomorow. So teach them as much as you can and hope they can do the job as well as you or better than you.

                            Always remember these 3 quotes:
                            #1. Good idea Lieutenant!!
#2. It was already broken when I got here.
#3. I was off that day and I don't know anything about it.

Always remember your basics. Technology (ie Thermal Image Cameras) can fail...so bring your rope!

Always remember to bring a spare pair of contacts (as I learned in the burn tower last night!)

Always remember that when you're wearing the least amount of clothing on a hot day at a call, the mosquitos will be at their worst.
