Guest repliedI'm proud to say that i'm the first in my family to persue a career in the fire department. Since I was a child I have always loved the fire department. I have had some family members who have needed the EMS side of the job and the care they gave was so outstanding I knew that is what I wanted to do. I enjoy the educational aspect to, there is always something more to learn. I have been on the job for nine years now and I wouldn't trade a second. I also like that there is alot of tradition in the fire service and it is good to know you are doing something for the community you serve. Also alot of reruns of EMERGENCY! helped with my decision. I do hope that this will become a tridition in my family. For anybody reading this thinking of the fire service as a career, do it it is well worth it. Be safe out there. -
Guest repliedIt's the family business. Never wanted to do anything else. My son just went on last June, 3rd generation.Leave a comment:

Why did you become a firefighter?
Just wondering what made people choose this line of work. Was it family tradition, benefits, excitement/challenge, helping others, or all of the above?Tags: None
