The TALLEST Aerial

E-one currently has a Bronto Skylift at their Ocala facility with a 174 foot vertical height aerial platform that is mounted on an dual front steer chassis. I saw it parked in the weeds at their special vehicle plant around the corner from the main plant in Ocala.

What is the tallest aerial that you ever saw?

The tallest in the world is a 286 foot Bronto Tower'.

My feet shook climbing hte local highest (135ft straight stick) I can't imagine climbing 286ft

They had the Bronto Tower on display In Germany. They took several people up in it to get photos.

When they got back down they were white as a ghost and said we looked like ants below them.

To high for my blood.

Saw an aerial at FDIC a couple years ago. It was either a european or japanese ladder. It was so high it had an elevator (a small platform that ran up the ladder) to get people up and down when extended.

Also have seen pictures that people have taken with an engine in front of a building under construction. If you get the angle just right, it looks like the crane on the building is actually part of the engine. Makes a heck of a quint.

Believe or not, that is a Good ole U-S-of-A made ladder, but made for export to Aisa and the rest of the world.

Got interested when I saw one of these Discovery Channel type shows of a fire in Singapore or somewhere like that and I saw "LTI" on the side...

And found this:

The American LaFrance EL Series of ladders is a specialized unit providing a fully climbable four, five or six section ladder which is capable of supporting tip loads of 250 kg (551 lbs) and has a maximum reach of 52M (170 ft). The tip mounted Rescue cage is capable of supporting 200 kg (441 lbs). Its cable driven Lifter has a capacity of 200 kg (441 lbs). The unit was designed for a global market and can be purchased as a M.A.D. (Mount-at-Destination) unit. I believe the tallest one in North America is the 174-178 ft. Bronto/Pierce on South Padre Island Texas. It was featured on one those shows like you see on the History Channel,TLC or Discovery Channel.

I live near S.P.I. and you are correct it is the tallest in the U.S. it was shown on Extreme Machines. I just don't remember the exact height??????

I don't remember he exact hieght either, but I do recall that it could reach the 14th floor.

I asked one of the guys that used to work there he said it is 178 feet.
It is back in Wisconsin, see that they were going to a call, they turned out and side swiped the whole rear-end (thanks to the rear stearing).
