This may be a question best left for Larry but Ill throw it out to everyone in the peanut gallery.
We're considering a new regulation requiring residential sprinklers in all new construction occupancies 3,500 square foot or more. Is 3,500 too restrictive or is 5,000 square feet better. Keep in mind 90% of my new construction is in excess of 5,000 square feet and I have 30 new homes 10,000 to 18,000 square feet in size which already have fire protection systems going in.
My questions are:
1. What problems have you encountered?
2. What was the opposition and how did you defeat it?
3. What would you do different?
4. Has this reduced your fire loss?
Other questions are more geared for development issues?
1. When would you require a cistern in a new subdivision? 5 homes, 10 homes, 20 homes
2. When would you require a municipal grade water supply?
15, 20, 25, 50 homes or more
3. When would you require each home to have it's own supply?
I realize that many of you dont have experience in the prevention area but think as a firefighter and what you think works why and what doesnt and why?
Thanks
