New Engine Dedication Plaque (Phrase)

Guys,

I need some help and knew this was the quickest place to look for it. Our Department will take delivery of a New Engine in Mid July. This new Custom Pump will replace our department's "first of a kind Engine". We were established in 1975 and this 75 Custom Maxium has been around even since. It was placed in the back row in 1996 sharing run responsibilities with a commercial International. Some of our members went to great lengths this time to make certain the new 2001 would be another Custom. With this new truck we will be dedicating it to a long time past Truck Engineer. This truck will be dedicated in memory as the:

"ROBERT C. MURPHY ENGINE COMPANY #1"

Where I need the help of my fellow Firefighters. I'm in search of a phrase that will allow this plaque to be perfect; more special than it already is. I have planned the abbreviation of the department, logo, years of service,& Title I need a phrase, saying or call code that wraps it all together. Our cheif found an old piece of circular metal with the following inscription:

"A little fire is quickly trodden out, but if suffered rivers can not quench"

We have no idea who said it, why it was chosen or really even what it is. Just a circular thing with the names of the officers back in '29 or so, and a hole in the middle.
