  • Im looking for feedback on the paul conway leather helment

Im looking to purchase another leather helment to replace a new yorker i bought last year...the reason i want to get rid of it is because its to top heavy and it huge compared to my size im only 5'7..,so im just looking what other people have to say about the paul conway and the pros and cons of it

1st off what size did you get also carins has been making leathers for a 150 years conway maybe 2 i have looked at the conway helmet and it looks good but i also remember the bullard deal a few years ago. Give them a couple more years and see if they are still around after all its all about saving your skull not looking good

I have been wearing a Paul Conway for almost a year now and I love it. I also didn't like the weight of the Cairns or the Pheonix (not sure of the spelling) helmet. The conway is a little more than the weight of the plastics. There is only one problem I have found with it. Any stickers you wish to put on the helmet may have problems staying because of the slik surface of the leather. I added things to make the helmet better for me with Glo-Flex markings, a Milwaukee chin strap and ESS goggles because the Conway goggles were a pain to adjust. The helmet wears well though. The leather lining inside makes the helmet MUCH more comfortable to wear because it is padded adn I don't end up with a red line across the front of my head. The helmet also stays in place better when you move your head around. The $100+ savings is big enticement too. One heads up though. The ear flaps are little longer than on any other helmet I've worn but that's not bad because they cover up more of you for a little extra protection.

      Take care and stay safe.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything.

I got my Conway Leather in December so far it has been comfortable to wear and like previously stated it sits in place well. I have not tested it a lot yet, we have been slow this year, which is a good thing. The only other helmets I can compare it to are the plastic metro styles. they are a little lighter but not as comfortable. My helmet has the Burkes but I also had a set of goggles put on ,It had to meet nfpa to use per my chief. I like the helmet a lot and think it is well put together.

I'm 5'7 also and I have a Cairns Sam Houston (medium) I've had it for almost five years and it has been nothing but great!
In fact I'm going to get another one for my spare set of gear. Nothing but the best!!
          Good luck, and be safe.

Go with the Conway, you won't be disappointed. The don't paint their helmets, they dye them, so there is no paint to crack. Also, thier headband is adjustable up and down, as well as the rachet. I like the carved brass eagle to, but safety over cosmetics.

I just bought a Leather Conway not too long ago. It is by far the most comfortable helmet that I have ever worn. In my opinion it was well worth the cost.

The Conway is a great helmet. I have had one since December and it has been put to the test. I have been some pretty hot structures and it and I survived. The helmet has good balance once on my head also, I always had a problem with the C&B N5A and N6A helmets fitting good. Not with the Conway, great fit and feel. Great buy for the cost also. This is just an all around great helmet and I don't think it will fade out like the others that have hit the market. good Luck and hope you get your answers.
