yellow coat and black pants with orange reflectors, salad bowl helmets with the leather fronts, it is a unigue combination, pretty sweet looking, I think it would look alot better if they had the FDNY striping.

My fire department in Delta Junction, Alaska wears yellow bunkers with orange and white reflective trim. I don't know why people think yellow bunkers look silly ... they do the job and they are worth gold to a small rural fire department. The chief officers at Delta fire dept. wear white bunkers with orange trim. Probies and firefighters wear yellow helmets, Lieutenants wear blue, Captains wear red and Chiefs wear white.
My fire department in Fairbanks, AK wears PBI gold with yellow and white trim and some folks have black bunkers with incredibly huge orange reflective strips. You can't miss them in the dark!! The chief officers wear the PBI gold with white helmets. Probies wear yellow helmets, firefighters wear the coveted black helmets, and both Lieutenants and Captains wear red.
I'm still a probie in Fairbanks so I have my nice shiny bright yellow probie helmet. I'm an entry firefighter in Delta but I'm still in a yellow helmet hahaha
One of these days I'll be wearing white!!!!
God bless and be safe everyone

Wow! The amount of black gear that departments are wearing is allot more than I ever thought. I am a 10-year ff and I also run my own company and sell gear. I look back on my sales and department visits since Jan 01 and I have only seen about 20 sets still in service. I have not sold nor have I been asked for a quote for black gear of any kind. Let me say I do not have anything against black turnouts I am just surprised the amount of black bunkers out their. I am from northern Indiana and 5 years ago yellow Nomex with 3" orange striping was the gear of choice. I am seeing allot of departments upgrading from Nomex to Basofil or PBI tan color with 3M Triple trim (lime/silver/lime) It just shows me how different we all are but jet we all still get the same job done.
Stay Safe and God Bless.
