Michigan Fire Department wants to join MAFF

My department wants to join Michigan Association of Fire Fighters. I was wondering if there is anyone that has or is in the process of joining a union. We have a few concerns about how to handle the higher ups when they find out. We feel that we will get the majority vote but are worried that a few will back out when it comes the time. What do we do if it does not pass. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your advise.

If you want the best representation for your firefighters join Michigan professional firefighters association (not even close to MAFF). Michigan professional firefighters are a part of the IAFF, they will help you in every step to set up a union shop in your dept. I have been a union member for 11 years and past president of our local. When ever i needed assistance for our local rep or the state leadership, it was there.
