Mass confusion after reading the final rule i can see why not many have applied.Even if funding has been almost nill for the fire service most of us have fire apparatus.But i do know that some depts dont have computers to report on. My dept has limited as most do money for equipment so why waste the time applying for a grant according to the rules we wont qualify for any of them ,the fire service is not in as dire straights as the package displays in fact if I could qualify for those grants I would not have a fire dept but needless to say I did apply but i dont expect anything at all. All in all it was a good lesson for myself and my staff in grant writing.
