  • Building Construction class materials.

Most likely this has been discussed in the past, but I don't have time to dig around.

I've been assigned the task of presenting building construction to an upcoming Officer Developmant class. Personally I'm very comfortable with and understand construction as it relates to our job. But not so good at presenting it to a class of relative rookies.

What I'm looking for is a canned program or power points that can be used as a basis and tailored to fit our region.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

      Billy,

Have you checked with the state fire training agency, be it the State Fire Marshal's Office or maybe a separate agency as in Virginia Department of Fire programs?

You don't give much of a clue as to where you may be located, so without that I can't do a Google search on your state to seek out this for you.

The NFA, National Fire Academy has two great programs dealing with Building Construction, which we taught as part of Fire Officer 1, years back.

You may be in Wisconsin. Check with whoever has control of firefighter training in that state.

        I'm in Colorado.
State fire training really doesn't exist.

          Maybe this one.

Also use some different search terms here:::

Also depending on where you live it is a good idea to take pictures of these types of const in your city, so they see examples of buildings in your city

Kind of an outside the box idea, but talk to college instructors that teach the college classes about building construction. They might have some powerpoints or other materials they use to teach class that you could use. Its definitely worth a call.
