Dive/Water Rescue & then some Trailer

Our county has been forming a dive team and our dept has 6 members so far trained. One of their proposals is to get 28' enclosed trailer to store dive/water rescue equipment, a Polaris 6x6, rehab area etc. It could also be used for a small supply of haz-mat supplies, command center, possible fill station, brush fire tools....
I was looking to see if anyone uses something like this or close to this and if you could post any pictures or websiter links on how you have it set up so we can get a better idea of what we want/need on this, if we are able to purchase one.

We've got about four vehicles to do what you want to do with one trailer.

Dive folks are in an old beverage truck.

I think the hazmat team has the same.

Command vehicle is an old military hearing test trailer with space for a comm center and conference room. The tractor that pulls it has a suitable generator on it. The cops use it, too.

Most folks with any sort of ATV have it on a trailer, some open, some closed, depending on where it's stored when not in use.

Start out by leaving off the "then some". Its nice to be prepared for the one in a thousand , but being preparded does not always mean bringing it with you.

We don't have any trailers but we are responsable for towing trailers for other agencies. EMS has a mass casulty trailer, Sheriff has snowmobile rescue sled. It all works OK till the weather goes bad, 28 feet is way to big to pull around in nasty weather.

If you want to use a trailer don't try to do too much with one trailer, smaller is better. IMHO get a truck.

We incorporated a few years ago a dive/water/swift water rescue team that works off of the Rescue/Hazmat rigs (2). All equipment is stored on it to do the job, as well as rehab. We also have ATV's and jet ski's as needed, and are the only equipment pulled by trailer. Usually off the BC's buggy. No need for enclosed type trailers.

28 feet is a lot of trailer and you better have something with serious balls to pull and control it.

Except for hauling any atv you're looking into, the old box/delivery trucks are much more applicable for your purposes. You also won't have to run a generator to power whatever you're dragging around.

As other have posted:

besides having an appropriately sized tow vehicle to safely tow a 28' trailer and the trained operators to drive it, maneuvering a" large single does it all trailer "will be limited to some sites while a lot will be inaccessible. Your talking a big area to turn that baby around and a big parking space to park it.

I have a thirty foot travel trailer that is towed by a one ton van with a v-10 gasser. You have to plan where your going to get that 50 foot combination turned around and parked.
