Hey I was asked to come up with a new training manual for our rescue squad. The manual is to get people cleared to ride our squad as "Rescue Support Techs". This is the bare minimum for riding our squad and are cleared firefighters with all necessary certifications minus those for HTR type stuff (Vehicle rescue, trench, etc.). Any help would be awesome. Thank you!!

IFSTA Vehicle Extrication.
Find the Chapters that cover what your agency would consider the bare minimum. Buy a few copies. Have them read it, and test them on both the practical skills and cognitive information.
No need to reinvent the wheel. Just take the parts of the wheel that already exist that work for your department.
Another option would be to simply use the chapter in the IFSTA Essentials book, which is FFII level, as your minimum baseline.Train to fight the fires you fight.Comment

And........
Yes, I'm North of the Potomac, but not far off. FWD mentioned MFRI's Rescue Tech Manual, and that is one option. But before trying to figure out what Training to require, you need to figure out what your needs really are. Auto Extrication? Yep. Collapse Rescue? I dunno, Fairfax is right next door, do you use them? Water Rescue? Swiftwater is something that is possible almost anywhere. Ice? Yep. Really HEAVY rescue like AMTRAK trains? Absolutely. you have Amtrak, VRE, and a lot of Freight, including Hazmat passing thru your area. Figure out what your people need to be capable of doing, then Train them to that level. If you come around to my side of the Beltway, drop in, we'd be happy to show you our Heavy Rescue......Never use Force! Get a Bigger Hammer.
