Question regarding XTS3000

Hello all,
I wanted to get some real people's opinions on the Motorola XTS3000 UHF (403-470 UHF Split) i recently purchased a second hand XTS3000 as a radio for me to use at the Volly department and i am awaiting its delivery, i don't know much about this radio but i do know that a stereotype surrounds Motorola as the king of all radios. Do you like the XTS3000, hows its range and reception, does its MDC-1200 function good on encode/decode? etc, etc. I also understand that LAFD uses or used these radios is that correct? Thanks -

I'm sure its a fine radio that will function as advertised. I've always had good luck with Moto.

What are you going to use it for? Is your department on the 453 freq? Get them to issue one of their radios!

If not it may be a good door stop.

We had several hundreds of the HT1000's in the 453 freq range and got rid of them when we went to 800 trunking.

We are currently on a frequency of 453.300 PL 110.9, we all have department issue radios but they aren't the best in the world and i think we will be stuck with them till the FCC requires the 12.5 spacing in 2013, i kinda like to have my personal radio for Ham use also.
