  • Custom Leather Helmet Shields

I recently sold my Phenix TL-2 to another firefighter whos head it fit better and picked up a barely used Cairns N6A Sam Houston. The new helmet is natural leather, and that got me looking at custom helmet shields (not the basic ones with panels and printed letters- the ones that have to be tooled and shaped out of leather.) So, here are a couple of companies I have come across, for anyone else who may be in the market.

Quick picture of the new helmet with a FireStore shield:

NOTE- I do not work for or own and of these companies, I am simply passing along info I came across after hours of online searching.

If anyone has any others to add, please do so! I will add more as I come across them.

Ive got first-hand experience with Box Alarm Leather, and they do PHENOMENAL work. Excellent customer service and product quality, and the artwork is second-to-none.

    HIGHLY recommended.

He has made several shields for me over the years and they have all been awesome quality and have held up great. One bad thing about them though that you must be warned about ahead of time is you will constantly be asked who made the shield for you. I still get asked about it to this day and I have had my main shield for three years now.

Choices choices, so much cool stuff to spend money on, lol. BTW, nice looking helmets BULL. I like the helmets and fronts at Royce Shields, I just wish their helmets were NFPA certified, the price is awesome.

I would almost be tempted to buy one anyway, i really like em and I've never really been too nuts about leathers but i would but a Royce.

I got my shield from Paul Conway in about a week, i was very surprised on how fast i got it.

I'm tempted to buy one as well, but I know what's gonna happen, any department I'm at won't let me use it, which I can't really blame them either. But they are very nice looking. And for 349 bucks, not too bad.

You can get a Phenix for a little more than that, shield included. And it is NFPA.

Their shields are nice, but I am not buying a helmet with a diamond plate front holder. Tacky as heck. Actually, let me rephrase; after finding that they fit me perfectly, my money will never be spent on anything in the future other than a Sam Houston. My second choice would be a Phenix.
