LODD'S

I DON'T MEAN TO SOUND OR COME OFF LIKE SOME A-HOLE BUT THIS YEAR SEEMS TO BE THE START OF A YEAR WITH THE LARGEST LODD'S EVER.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?
WE HAVE SOME OF THE BEST EQUIPMENT, TRAINING, AND PERSONNEL IN THE WORLD, AND IT'S STILL HAPPENING IN LARGE NUMBERS.
COULD IT BE THESE NEW REULATIONS (FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL) ARE NOT FOLLOWED?
IS IT MONEY?
GOD IT'S SCARY TO THINK THAT THE YEAR, AND MY FELLOW BROTHER'S CAREERS ARE NOT OVER. WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE ISSUES, AND WHY ARE OTHER COUNTRIES DOING BETTER?

As much as I hate to say it, I think a lot of it has to do with our equipment being too good. The thermal protection offered by the new bunker gear is not allowing the firefighter to realize how hot the room actually is and how close to flash over it is. Being able to acurately gauge the room temp is becoming harder and harder.

Ok how many of the LODD's have been Firefighter's that are actually killed in a fire?, And how many of them have been Firefighter's dying from heart attacks?, It's gotten to the point we worry about do we have the right training, The proper and best equipment out there and then we come onto firehouse and read about how one of our brothers or sisters died that day while working out or fighting a fire becasue of a heart attack, Alot of firefighter's are horribly out of shape and overwieght and don't eat right, This job being in top physical condtion is a MUST!, BE SAFE EVERYONE!

GOOD POINT KID!
GETTING YOUR BUTT OF THE COUCH, AND DOING SOME CARDIO IS A GOOD ONE. I MAKE IT A POINT TO RUN ON OUR CYBEX FOR AN HOUR, AND SOME WEIGHTS, EAT RIGHT, AND STAY AWAY FROM THE ALCOHOL. SO ILL PAT MYSELF ON THE BACK FOR THAT ONE. IT'S A LITTLE HARD WHEN YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WORKING OUT AT MY STATION.
A WELLNESS PROGRAM IS AN ISSUE IN MY DEPT. AND IT'S GETTING IRONED OUT.

ANYWAY I WAS SPEAKING OF FIREGROUND LODDS.
