    Our policy on the divided highways is to send our water tender to block which is heavier than a ladder truck and less expensive to replace!

      Your fire department has a steam locomotive? Cool!

      (Tenders go behind locomotives. Tanker trucks haul water.)

        Isn't the fire service great! Anywhere west of the mighty mississippi river, a tender is a truck that carries lots of water and a tanker has wings and dumps water on wildfires.
        Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

          Nims me boy, NIMS! Gonna make it ALL BETTER! Not that I wouldn't,if necessary,but I rather use something BESIDES my Ladder for a blocker. EXPENSIVE and takes too long to build. T.C.

            If we have to play in the road we just shut it down. ::: But then Our biggest road is one lane each way thats paved.
            We do have one blinking yellow lite at an intersection now, but just the one. :-}

            I grew up on a dept that worked the five lane interstate and turnpike. Always a scary place to turn your back to traffic. We used the DOT dump trucks with the arrow boards for lane blocking.

                      Perhaps that's West of the MISSOURI River. In Iowa a truck with big tank of water is a tanker. A tender is behind an obsolete locomotive or an upscale chicken nugget.

                          ^^^ Laughs. But they do work. Completely impractical on the back of a fire apparatus. In CT, the DOT sends those trucks to every accident.

                                An airplane. Coincidentally, it's equipped with a tank to hold the firefighting agent.
