Just curious, does anybody out there still use Nomex as your outer shell for bunker gear?

A lot of departments still have Nomex gear or a Nomex blend.
"Advance" is still a popular fabric which is a blend of Nomex and Kevlar.RK

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.
"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.
Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite. -
A lot of mid range gear is a Kevlar/Nomex blend.
I want to know when Nomex station wear will be mandated.Career Firefighter

We are currently using Advance and most depts around us are too. I just didn't know if with the budget cuts it had any impact on your gear replacement and you decided to go with nomex.Comment

My Volly FD uses Bristol Turn-outs in Nomex Delta T blend.
When I was a civilian FF for the WiANG we had Nomex duty pants and Cotton FR uniform shirts. I absolutley HATED, wait, no, really despised, the Nomex duty pants, they were hot and an absolute pain in the *** to wash. maybe have made some improvements in them since I left there 12 years ago but those were awful.Crazy, but that's how it goes
