Hi everyone My question is that I wear glasses will my scba mask fit ok around them?
Thanks so much
Not unless you wanna buy a new pair every time you put your mask on....
You can see if they are comfortable on your face under the mask.. If not you can go with contacts. How bad are your eyes? If you can see pretty decent without them you should be alright just leavin them on the truck...
eyes r kinda bad and I havent got my mask yet going later 2day to pick one up. when I was watchin the scba video the mask look good size for glasses guess it was just me well thanks guys
Not only would they probably break in half.. they would be exposed to heavy smoke and very high heat.
Try wearing them under and see if you can manage.. if not try contacts.
I'll second the contacts. I've been wearing mine since I started and have never had a problem with my contacts drying out, etc. I've been wearing them for 15 years though, and am very good at putting them in and out, along with wearing them for extended periods of time.
thanks for all the input guys kinda sucks just passed the exam and was woot woot but now I dont know cuz contacts and I dont get along but thanks everyone
I have bad vision and cant stand contacts. My dept put out for a pair of inserts and you just gotta go to an eye glasses place and have them cut lenses to put in there. I love the ones i have in mine. Works great.
I believe every SCBA manufacturer makes an eyeglass insert for their facepieces. Contact your local sales rep and find out.
Again the man is correct. Give him a cigar or his favorite beverage!!
My old eyes are bad, but I can operate without glasses with a face piece on. If I need to read anything larger that the words that are on the apparatus or something like that, then I have to get somewhere and pull the face piece off and put on the glasses.
I left my glasses in the house one night and had a terrible time trying to use the MDT. Lucky all I needed to do was to hit the enroute, on scene, back in service and back in quarters key! I knew where they were as theeach was on a seperate corner of the key pad.
Ask your department. If you are in an OSHA state-plan state they may be required to provide you with inserts for corrective lenses under PPE standards. Not the type of thing a new guy should necessarily demand though
I was blind as a bat but used to just leave mine in the rig when wearing the mask and never had much trouble. Lasik surgery about 6 years ago cured that though
Good luck

The inserts and everything arnt that expensive in the end either, I think my MSA ones were about 30 and then the lenses were 80 so about $110 to be able to see. Well worth it.
