    Hello everyone,

Is anyone using the new powercall sirens?? I have seen video on YouTube of the old DX5 powercall. I like the sounds this one made. Is there any difference between the old one and the new one??? Thanks you all for your input..

powercallsirens.com is the website for the new ones. They have sample sounds of the new ones. Also you can do a youtube search for trucks doing responses with powercall sirens.

We're running Powercalls on about half of the rigs at work. The DX5 (now discontinued) has a higher pitch than the current Powercall 6A and 6B. The 6-series are designed to sound like the original GE Powercall.

Still nothing sounds quite like the 1963 GE Powercall I have on my Mack in the driveway.

I think that I have a copy of that one..... Put it on "Wail" and it winds up slower than a Hand Crank Siren on a 1828 Reo..........

It's not a real fire truck unless it has a Federal Q and Air horns. However the Powercall sound is cool. Now if we can just get the public to listen for them

A lot of MD departments seem to simply turn the PowerCall on out the door and use the Q and airhorns per usual.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.

Exactly!....... The powercall comes on as the front bumper is coming past the Door Frame. The Q2B and the Grover 1501 Stuttertones just add to the Music. And Yes, there are a few Train Horns around.........

When you add that train horn, make sure to add at least 2 extra air tanks if not more as they will drain your air pressure in a hurry and then that yellow button will pop out on ya. Been there done that, not fun with 80,000 pound truck. But you WILL be heard at least.

Put a low air cutoff in it. No problemo! T.C.

As a recent transplant to your neck of the woods, I'm still adjusting to all these new noises. In the Northeast, sirens are all Whelen, Motorola, and of course Q's. Now that I'm down here, I have to adjust to this funny sounding whooping noisemaker known as a powercall.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.
