  • Hey Guys, Listen Up - Trouble Coming.....

I usually don't fly off the Handle quick, but I'll make an exception this time.

PLEASE take time to read the Thread about "Bill would Outlaw Indiana Fire Fees". Why?? Because this is a FEDERAL Bill. If the proposed Legislation mentioned in the Indiana situation Passes, it affects all 50 States........

I will be forwarding information about this to the Maryland House and Senate Members to try to get this thing killed in Committee, or even sooner. The NVFC, IAFC, CFSI, and other Fire Service Groups will also be advised of this.... Please stay up on what's going on here, It could be a major attack on our Funding...... Thanks, Harve.

Frankly, after reviewing the article again, I'm not sure it's such a bad thing. We'd need to see the proposed legislation to be sure.

What do you expect out of our elected officials.

They have made a pretty good mess out of just about everything else for the last 20 years. Why not remove a funding source from the fire service as well.

This just helps the Inusrance Companies... not necessarily the insured. It also protects companies that cause or create a hazmat situation or catastrophic event. Someone will collect for cleaning it up... but it won't be us.

How many multi-vehicle crashes have you worked where a semi caused it and left a huge mess behind?

If you add this bill to the Collective Bargaining bill, you can expect layoffs and reduction of service in many communites. Cities, Counties and towns are already broke. Cram more on top and they will have no choice but to make drastic cuts. My current assignment is for the purpose of painful belt tightening.

This may force return of volunteers in many areas. But I am hearing that there is a growing desire to include the volunteers into the Unions and Bargaining Units.

I guess someone discovered some extra cash laying around to pay for that. Oh, that's right... it was in our pockets all the time.

You guys better sound off on both of these dumb*** bills... call your reps.

At the very least... pay attention and get informed.

The fact that the bill had to be attached to a must pass bill tells it all.

However, someone has to pay for the cost of the emergency response. Does it matter if I pay through taxes or the insurance company?

          Isn't that the same thing?

If you buy insurance, you can be sure your paying for more than just you.

If you pay income taxes, you are definitely paying for more than yourself if you have a decent job.

When you go to the store, you pay taxes, so you are paying for services; State, County and Local. Remember, there is a push for a National Sales Tax.

Therein lies the problem; they are not leaders, they are politicians.

You elected your reps and senators into office.

                  I sure didn't.

I didn't elect one of those fools. In the case of my representative to congress, my senators Schumer and Clinton (replaced by Gillibrand), the Governor, and the President, I did not vote for one of those clowns. I voted for the other clown instead.

Very similar to the union collective bargaining bill attached to the must fund 'Afghanistan support bill. The union bill had no chance of passing by itself, and is in fact, detested.

The cuts in funding are being done on a state level first, before the federal government uses the other terminology,,,cuts in spending. Which will be addressed on a federal level before we know it.

                            THIS IS AN ABERATION!!!!!!
ONE (expletitive) fire company and one crappy billing agency sent a COMPLETELY unreasonable bill for services.

Indiana has a general insurance fee (I think) for $500......NOT (expletitive) $28,000!!!!!!! !!!!!! (expletitive) !!!!!!!

Many of the smaller departments that get their budget cut EVERY SINGLE YEAR by the state board of accounts need..YES NEED...this measley $500 to keep the doors open. MOST departments SOFT BILL. If the insurance company doesn't pay, they don't pursue.

OF COURSE the insurance institute is for this... I wouldn't wanna pay if I did not have to.

This is a KNEE JERK reaction to an aberation...

One bad apple spoils the whole damn bunch....
