What is a good digital camera to use for investigations? Looking into updating, wondering what everyone is using. Thanks

A DSLR would be preferable but its not the end of the world if you do not have one. I would recommend at least getting a point and shoot with a hot shoe that enables you to attach a larger flash. You need as much light as possible on fire scenes.
No matter what you choose, be sure you learn how to use it properly and practice taking photos. Digital is cheap.

Canon is always good. I like them. My friend J has a fireproofing nyc company and he uses nikons. Just preference I think. I don't think it makes a humongous difference.
