TFT dual PSI nozzle or Akron SaberJet

Akron Sales Rep brags up the SaberJet telling us that the automatic nozzle is a thing of the past. Currently we use TFT nozzles which have been very reliable. I personally like the dual psi nozzle from TFT. Looking for some other opinions on these two nozzles. Pros and Cons?

Our local Akron rep told us out TFT automatics were broken. Set up his little flow meter, guaranteed us that it would only flow Xgpms and his Akrons would do better. Funny thing, he was wrong. Instead of saying he was wrong, he told us to take our nozzles out of service because they must be broken since they were flowing what they were supposed to.

Needless to say, you won't find many Akrons on our trucks.

We use 1 3/4" TFT automatics at 100psi. Never had a problem with the nozzles in over 10 years.

I'm amazed by some of the ploys sales reps will use when trying to flog us something!

Personally, if I can't touch it, feel it and more importantly- use it, then I'm, not interested.

This is especially so when looking at stuff for the fire service. The only way to really compare these is to set up trials and compare apples with apples.

I'm not familiar with the Saberjet, but I gotta say- I love my Akron's! (We're running the 1720P's)

Apples & Oranges

Speaking of apples and oranges, We have both. We use TFTs for water and SaberJets for our CAFS trucks.

They are two entirely different nozzles each with its own place.

TFT dual range nozzles work at high pressure for reach outside and at low pressure for interior. Easily changed and a little training necessary.

SaberJets are two nozzles in one. The bail operates a snooth bore up to 1" in diameter down the middle of the nozzles for you smooth bore and CAFS fans. Water is directed around the ball valve to the front of the nozzle to a twist to open Combination Nozzle. Each part of the nozzle can operate independently or together.

The combination part of the nozzle is dual range. It flows 95GPM at 50psi and 135GPM at 100psi.

Why firemen get get so worked up on just one brand of nozzles and one type of nozzle is beyond me. There is alot of room in the toolbox for more than just one nozzle.
