LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A North Andover firefighter and another
man were injured when a fire engine rolled over on Interstate 495
Monday morning.
The truck had just been repaired and was being returned to the
station around 10:40 a.m. when a van cut across multiple lanes of
traffic, cutting off the fire engine, according to state police
Sgt. David Paine.
Firefighter David Ford was taken to Lawrence General Hospital,
where he was listed in stable condition.
The driver of the van, whose name was not immediately released,
was also listed in stable condition at Lawrence General, The
Eagle-Tribune newspaper reported.
Paine said the rollover caused minor backups in the southbound
lanes of 495, but no lanes were closed.
He said the accident was under investigation.
