Well thanks but no thanks Ms.Tilton, how many other companies have you bought just to close the doors. We can not help you do not know the fire industry, sitting in your high back leather chair on wall street ,does not give knowledge of the industry. hopefully the next company I work for is not affiliated with you or your businesses, over the past 2.5 years you have done nothing to move us forward. what a joke. A lot of promises you did not deliver on. Hopefully you can look at the fire chief and tell him you failed him and his firefighters, that their rig will not be built by our facility, cause you just shut our doors. Our employees are some of the most dedicated people out there. OH thats right your on wall street, come join us here on main street maybe you could learn a few things.

Would you care to be more specific or are you just going to spout off the usual ALF propaganda that you have in all 13 of your posts?

          ALF Closing

I used to work for ALF in Charleston and Hamburg NY. I just received a call from another employee that stated that the LTI and Hamburg facility are closing. 70 People were let go today. All trucks are going to be made in Charleston. They may try to build them but the quality will not be the same. As far as I know they have not offered to relocate any of the employees from these facilities. I guess that building firetrucks just wasn't her cup of tea. Maybe now she can concentrate on the other business that she bought to save. Building Armored Military Vehicles. How long till she runs that into the ground????

the orders for new trucks probably isn't exactly record breaking either.

Not for nothing, but I think you'll find Lynn Tilton and Patriarch Partners have had some very successful business deals, take overs and restarts. ALF was already a sinking ship and someone failed to do enough due diligence or someone had "cooked the books". Could someone else turned them around? Sure probably so, but how many others could have failed as well? Snickering and dancing like little schoolgirls while decent honest working guys lose their jobs in a poor economy is shortsighted.

Having bought an ALF right after Patriarch took over, I've met some great people out of Ephrata and further. Most people who you'll ever shake hands with or share a beer over dinner with will have done nothing more than try to put out the best product they could with what the upper management gave them.

Too bad to see Ephrata close. Maybe ALF should sell off LTI and let them flourish again under a new name or better yet as an independent. RK who?

                Navistar / ALF??????

Remember the big announcement they made last August about a joint venture with Navistar? Shortly after that they also announced they would be moving the body business to LTI and RD. Maybe the big Navistar plans fell apart and now the need something to do in that big plant in South Carolina. Either way I wish they would make up their minds.

                  From the inside...

This is no rumor or anything else. ALF Ephrata and Hamburg are closing NLT 5/31/2009. End of line. Everything will be made in Summerville, according to the word received today; "the most cost effective way to make ALF profitable is to put everything under one roof"...at their spacious headquarters in South Carolina. They will get very few if ANY people from Ephrata to transfer dwon south as they have not even offered relocation assistance. They might be able to build pumpers and tankers...but if they try to build aerials...two words for that...STAY AWAY.

looks like they did make up their minds. she's approaching the hospice stage of this terminal illness. there ain't much left now. give the patient enough pain meds and let him die in peace. for all intents and purposes, ALF is done.

I truly feel sorry for the departments that have ALF units on order, especially any aerial devices. They are letting all of their experienced aerial welders/fabricators go from LTI. Who's left to do the fabricating? And are they really going to move all of the fixtures from Ephrata to SC? That in itself is a huge expenditure.
