After a year of planning and fundraising, then another year of waiting, we finally took delivery of our new rescue!

It is a 16' rescue body built by Alexis Fire Equipment on a 2006 Chevrolet 8500 series chassis.

25kW generator

1500 watt fixed scene lights (3)

Reels for electric and hurst tools

transverse compartments

crew enclosure with patient transport capabilities

Locking narcotics cabinet in the crew enclosure

12 ton Warn winch (portable with receivers on the front and back of the truck)

Same here, about how much? We're so close on ours I can almost smell it.

We are going with an M2 Freightliner w/4 door cab, 14 foot body, tranverse compartments, generator, full lighting package, winch and quick connect mounts on 4 sides, 4 SCBA bottle compartments in wheel wells, electric roll out awning on 1 side, scba brackets (3) in back seat, Kussmaul air compressor/battery charger, several roll out trays and a couple of roll out tilt down shelves, 300 HP Mercedes, allison auto, air brakes, 34,000 lb chassis.

We'll be adding our cascade system, hurst tools with 2 electric reels, etc...


Somewhere around $153,000 for ours.

Yes, there is a pass-through, it's about 18"x24". It could have been designed to just about any demension, that's just what we ended up with.

The crew enclosure has two SCBA seats mounted on the rear wall with a large cabinet with a roll-up door between them. This stores our jump kits and drug box. The front wall has a two bench seats with storage underneath. There are also in-wall O2 outlets and an ambulance cot mounted to the floor. The cot is loaded/unloaded from the side (note the two side doors, like an ambulance's rear doors.)

This vehicle serves as a our primary EMS first response vehicle. We had previously used an old ambulance. We needed a design that allowed for more storage of rescue equipment, but still allowed us space to treat an accident victim out of the elements while waiting for our transport ambulance, or provide a means of transport should an ambulance not be available.

Total cost was $183,000

Medicmaster, we're in the same shape. Using an Ambulance for our rescue. It's at max GVW with one person it it. We're are getting a grant from a local group for all but $25,000 of the purchase price. I included a little room in the final application for price increases and we may be able to add a bit more equiment in the end. We want to set it up to fully package 6 pts if needed. Under the awning will be used for rehab/command at fires and other incidents as well as a triage area at larger accidents, etc..

Keeping the old one, or getting rid of it? We're going to donate ours to a Mutual Aid department. They are currently using a 1 ton brush truck to run EMS calls.

We are selling it outright. We found that it was worth more that way than if we traded. We have sent information to some of the area departments who could use a "better" rescue vehicle than what they currently have to see if there is any interest. It's still a good truck, but I have a feeling some contractor or plumber will end up with it...

We're asking $10K or best offer.
