Water Master
I am new to this site, so if I goof, sorry, I have come across to me a new type tanker fire truck called Water Master from Southern Fire Equipment. It seems like it would be good for rural areas. Does anyone know about this truck and any experience with it. It is under our consideration. Thanks.

Water Master is an O.K. truck, but you should really check out firovac. they have a really good warranty on their trucks and the overall quality is better.

A neighboring dept. to the west of us has a 3500 gallon water master, dept. to the southwest has a 3500 gallon firovac, dept. to the northwest has a 2000 gallon firovac. All three are fine pieces of apparatus and very functional. We have a 2000 conventional tanker at each station (2). But that is all that is conventional about them. Yes they each have a 10" dump, chutes that let them unload to either side. But the driver in our shuttles do not get out of the truck. The driver can open the dump valve from in the cab. The water officer hold up a finger as to which tank to dump in and then tells him when to open and close the valve. The fills on the rear of the truck are two 4" lines with in line check valves. They are piped to the top of the tank rather than the bottom. Using a 1000 gpm pumper to fill using ldh we can fill and dump in 2 min. This faster than the average conventional tanker. But we work well with the surrounding dept. with vaccum tankers and each knows what needs done when we mutual aid each other for a efficient shuttle. Its a matter of preference.Comment

Not sure about water master, but we run a firovac, it's not a bad truck, the reason we went with them is for service being's the place they are built is only an hr. away. it works good if you are a short handed dept. as really only 2 people are really needed to operate the fill site, it will fill at around 1000 GPM's, they say you can fill a little faster if you have a vacuum already on the tank before you start to hook up the hose, but this has never been tried. as for unloading if you pressurize the tank when unloading for faster unloading, make sure you have some type of angled chute on the valve, as we have tried this before without having it on there and it blew the drop tank away, and could also seriously injure someone if they are standing on the opposite side of the drop tank as it comes out with that much force.Originally posted by BigBallz003 View PostComment
