Fred are new/rehabed FDNY houses designed for the larger equipment of today and the possibility of even larger apparatus in the future? When site space allows of course.

Unfortunatley not, one company that had a 95' tl had great difficulty (allegedly) getting the rig in and out of their new firehouse so they got a 75' model.
One of the major obstacles is the fact that so many firehouses are of historical significance and "protected" from alteration. These houses were built for horse drawn or even hand pulled fire apparatus and do not have the width needed (at the door) for a 102" wide fire engine, even 96 is too much.

DCFD has had the same roadblocks thrown up by the historical preservationists. They have been able to come up with a few creative solutions, but it has added years, and in a few cases decades, to the upgrade process. E-20 has had the toughest time it seems, but their new house is finally coming on line, after just a few decades of planning and a few years operatinn out of a trailer home.
