Anyone confirm or deny that the Aerialscope bid for the towers was thrown out (rejected) and now it is a toss up between Ferrara and Pierce?

Sounds like a very large " RUMOR " the FDNY has 12 new Seagrave Aerialscopes on order. Four have been delivered to the Seagrave sales & service located in East Brunswick , New Jersey to be preped and lettered and then sent to the city of New York. When I was at Seagrave Sales & Service 2 months ago the " EVT " that worked on our pumper said that Seagrave has a contract for 12 towers and 8 aerial ladders. The factory started delivering some of Aerialscopes & ladders about 4 months back !Originally posted by ffp8106Comment

I believe you are correct I will confirm. As for the others mentioned above they were bid nearly 2 years ago and it was 12 TL's and 15 RM aerials not 8. Maybe if the EVT's at Seagrave would STFU and turn a wrench we could get back some of those rigs sitting at their shops. Less talk more work...Originally posted by ffp8106

Both Ferrara & Pierce do not build a " 75 ' tower ladder " , only 95' -100 ' midmounts so how can they bid on these apparatus ? Ferrara builds both an 85' and 100' midmount (Smeal aerial devices) and Pierce builds a 95' midmount. While I generally think these FDNY speculation threads are silly (who CARES what they buy?), I will say that, HYPOTHETICALLY, it's entirely possible that IF they're considering going away from the telescoping boom design of the Scope to a more traditional ladder tower design, would it really be inconceivable that they would also consider 85' and 100' heights?
