I thought all seats were air suspended, but it doesn't look like it. They also recline more than standard SCBA seats, which is nice. Theres a novel bottle retention system as well, don't know what it entails - but it's developed with the same company that developed the front airbags, so maybe it only clamps during accidents.

Also, these trucks have front airbags, which is a pretty big deal.

So what Chassis do these replace? Is the Velocity the replacment for the Quantum? and is the Impel the new entry level chassis?

Velocity replaces the Dash and Lance. The Impel replaces the Enforcer and Saber. The Quantum and Arrow continue in production.

I'm in Dallas at the FRI show and was at the introduction for both chassis. These new chassis are awesome, plenty of room, good vision, SCBA that don't need straps, flat floors, more room for the driver and officer and the mirrors (although funny looking) allow the best side and ground views that I think I have seen. I wonder if they will do the other style mirrors as an option. I would have to really think about which mirror to go with if other mirors are available. I will try to spend more time by the new chassis tomorrow and see what else I can learn. First impression; nice, very nice.

Velocity replaces the Dash and Lance.

I REALLY hope that isn't true. That would be a terrible move on Pierce's part if it were.

Mirrors look like ant antennas - other than that the Velocity chassis looks ok but I think it was a HUGE mistake to replace the Dash chassis as it was a HUGE seller.

The Impel chassis looks ugly without the chrome that the Velocity has.

Having just been thru an ordeal about E-One I think I will prefer to wait for a more formal statement from a more credible source than a forum member no matter how honest, sincere or confident. Reason: My experience has caused me to prefer to hear it from an official spokesperson via a formal venue
[i.e. website etc] rather than a leak.

The Impel reminds me of an early 80's ALF Pioneer II cab with the headlights protruding out like that.

Aside from the looks of the Impel, it looks like some nice features have been worked into these chassis. The step height does concern me, though.

I also hope that a chrome option is available for the front end of the Impel!

Funny, the Dash and Lance are to be replaced by the Velocity. Funny thing is, it looks like a Dash with a Quantam nose job! Looks like a Dash base, with a reworked nose and a new "set in place" interior. Oh, innovative. Woohoo.

I dont know if I'm sold by the interior either. Yeah, the seats look nice, and the airbags may be a plus depending on who you are.. but the "storage"... Anyone else watch the video, or notice the photos of the radios down in the "pocket". They dont have antennas on them, and no speaker mics either. Makes me wonder if a speaker mic would fit with it down into the pocket. I know damn well that I don't take my mic off just to charge the radio!

I'm not sure I'm sold on all this fancy "Command Zone Advanced Electronics" bull**** either. Why can't they design a new cab, with a properly designed, non computerized, all guts and no glory type electrical system? I don't need a computer screen with "advanced diagnostics" to tell me something's wrong. A warning light will do just fine.

Maybe when the time comes, I'll take a look at these new cabs. I'm just not sold yet.
