  • Fish Eye Mirrors

For those who have experience using fish eye type mirrors for bumper clearance, does anybody have a preference of using a second mirror (over the driver’s side windshield)? I know that most apparatus only have the officer’s side mirror, including most FDNY engines and trucks, but I’ve also noticed that some apparatus – including the FDNY rescue companies – have mirrors on both sides (IIRC, the HME/Saulsburys even had a second set of mirrors on the bumper).

At any rate, our new tanker has a 24” bumper with a significant amount of real estate in the bumper, and will be maneuvering in some pretty tight spaces. Should we have mirrors on both cab corners, or just officer’s side?

Ever thought about sissy poles as an option too?

Yes, we considered the idea, but they won't fit on the bumper, due to the rotation of the bumper turret. I'm assuming that you use mirrors on both sides with them?

                Blitzfiresolo,
Is that mirror on PG engine 121? It looks like the inside of 12house.
