For those who have experience using fish eye type mirrors for bumper clearance, does anybody have a preference of using a second mirror (over the driver’s side windshield)? I know that most apparatus only have the officer’s side mirror, including most FDNY engines and trucks, but I’ve also noticed that some apparatus – including the FDNY rescue companies – have mirrors on both sides (IIRC, the HME/Saulsburys even had a second set of mirrors on the bumper).
At any rate, our new tanker has a 24” bumper with a significant amount of real estate in the bumper, and will be maneuvering in some pretty tight spaces. Should we have mirrors on both cab corners, or just officer’s side?
