  • Looking for a resuce/brush truck

Hey everyone. I am back again and now I am requesting help from my brothers and sisters on here. My department has come to me and asked if I would check on here and see if anyone may know where to find a good brush truck and rescue truck. We do have a budget that we are confined to and also there has to be at least 3 bids on these items before the board will make a final decision. If anyone has any input please contact me on here or send me a private message. Thanks for your time and everyone take care.

        Use DOD surplus.

        In Louisana

Tell the state forester you need an M35A3 and 600gal pod (as used on a TPU) and you'll arrange transport as required if they don't have on hand. Buy a good quality pump with a little of your cash. Assemble yourself. Baffle the pod if it is an older version. Install radio/emerg light. In 3 weeks you can be in service. Paint it someday.

contact your local forest service or wildland agency office and see if they have any used slide ons we just picked up a forest service box that had everything from the tank to the pump and boxes for tools for free and then all you need to worry about is buying a pickup to put it on and if you have a fleet license you can pick them up pretty cheap (15k-20k) and have 10k left over for tools lights and what not

Exactly what he said at that price range.

              That's gonna be awfully tight.

Unfortunately, the state forest service in LA has very little if anything to loan anymore as they have all but gotten out of that business. Maybe Fire has some more recent info, but last we looked, what was available was some pretty slim pickings.

There is state surplus but you will be hard pressed to find anything that will fit what you are looking for as generally they sell either 4WD pickups, which would be fine for a brush truck, or 2WD light duty trucks with utility bodies, which would work as a light rescue, but I have not seen anything on LA surplus that would function in both roles.

Maybe you could find a department that has something to sell that would fit your needs.

So your budget is 30K for both?

                    That will be even tougher.

Send me an e-mail at [email protected] with your e-mail and I'll try to get that info for you tommarrow at the office.

So you have a budget of 30k dollars to purchase both a light rescue and a brush truck? You might as well abandon this idea for the simple fact that finding any vehicles in that price range, even if possible, will end up costing you way more in repairs down the road. You WILL be getting someone else's junk.

30K each would be more like it, and that is pushing it.

we may be getting rid of a old f350 4wd its a early 90s model it needs some transmission work but it would be just the truck we are going to retain the skid unit that is used in it
