If specing a truck , wich standard is a better one to ask for. The one from NFPA 1901 4.13.1 or the European ECE-R29 standard or both? I do see that most of the big vendors have done the ECE standard but not really sure wich one to ask for.

I think the European ECE-R29 standard exceeds the NFPA standard. I would just list both to keep it simple your covered for both standards.
