  • Firefighter Certification

I am an Australian Avitation Firefighter and am wanting to work in the United States. Can anyone assist me with info on recognition of my training, certification standards in the US, and any copies of relevent NFPA regulations. A copy NFPA 1001 would be great......

Most of the Fire Depts. in Colorado, do not require any type of previous training or experiance. Some do require EMT or 60 credit Hrs. of college. Good luck

You can go to www.nfpa.org and read a copy of NFPA 1001. Most departments around our state have individual standards. Our state also has state-wide certification which defines a minimum standard for ff training. I would suggest that you contact various agencies and find out what their requirements are. If you are flexible and able to relocate, there are lots of job opportunities.

I would be happy to assist you in your search if I can.
