The St. Louis Fire Department is accepting applications until December 15th for firefighter positions. Starting salary is $30,564. Benefits include vacation days, ten paid holidays, health insurance and retirement plans. Applicants must be at least 21 years old by Dec. 31, 2001, possess a valid drivers license and be a high school graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (G.E.D). Applicants should be prepared for later cross-training in Emergency Medical Services and a dual role of paramedic and firefighter. Successful applicants will attend the department's fire academy.
Applicants will be required to pass written and physical performance tests and undergo character investigations.
