  • Looking to Move to VA

    Hello Everyone!
I am a Volunteer Firefighter from PA who is moving to VA and want to run with either a paid volunteer company in the Arlington or Fairfax area.
I am 26 years old and I completed the Essentials of Firefighting class last year near the top of my class which included SCBA certification. I have completed HazMat Awareness (will have in November), CPR/First Aid (will have in June), Response to Terrorism, PA130 the PA state certification class for Wildland firefighting, and EVOC as I am also a driver. I am also the President of our company and would love to run with a company in VA once I move down hopefully by the end of the summer. I also would like to obtain my EMT designation as well.
If any company is intersted, please let me know. Thanks

    Chuck,

Just a few pointers for you. I have quite a few friends in Fairfax and Arlington, as well as DC. If you go through all the stages "I think there are 8 or 9 in Fairfax", you are pretty much hired.

1 Big thing about living in this area. IT IS EXPENSIVE AS ****. The most recent friend that got hired in Fairfax is paying upwards of 800 a month for an apartment...PLUS utilities, so make sure you save some cash, or have a few friends in the area to maybe take you in until ur out of the academy.

    GOOD LUCK
